Registration will remain open through February 28th

Registration for the 2015 TBL rec baseball leagues is now open, and will remain open through February 28th.  Practices start in early April, and the seasons span from early May to late June/early July ... everything is wrapped up by July 4th.

Please note that the TBL Board of Trustees voted this fall to make a change in how we group our age divisions.  In the past, we've used the age cut off of August 31st - so your child's age as of the August after the season ends determined their age division.  This date was originally chosen because August 31 used to be the school age cut off, but it has since been moved up a couple of times.  Little League Baseball has also adopted an age cut off date of May 1st.  August 31st no longer made any sense for TBL to use as a cut off date.  The board voted on the issue and decided to change TBL's age divisions to be tied to the school grades kids are in, which many other sports use as well.  The reasoning behind the outcome of the vote was simple: we want kids to play baseball with their friends.  And we think its simpler for the parents as well.  Our age cut-off date has been a constant source of confusion, and led to kids in the same grades playing in different age divisions.

Here's our divisions, and the grades associated with each ...

Tee-ball: Entering kindergarten in the fall or currently in kindergarten
Coach Pitch I - Currently in 1st grade
Coach Pitch II - Currently in 2nd grade
Juniors - Currently in 3rd or 4th grade
Minors - Currently in 5th or 6th grade
Majors - Currently in 7th or 8th grade
Seniors - Currently in high school

We realize that this change could lead to kids being tagged to an age division they have already played two years in, and are willing to be flexible with parents of kids in those situations who want their kids to advance to the next division.  And we will continue to also be accommodating to parents who want their kids to "stay down" a division to continue to progress before moving up a division.  Also - note that our travel baseball and rec league tournament teams will continue to use the May 1 cut off date as it relates to the formation of those teams.

ANY questions that anyone has on these changes or the reasoning behind them, please feel free to email us at info@twinsburgbaseball.com.
