"Twinsburg represents community baseball at its best. Their teams are consistently strong fundamentally and more importantly they play the game the right way; with respect."

TBL WINTER CLINICS – DECEMBER 15 & 22

TBL is excited to announce plans to hold two clinics for rec ball players on December 15 and 22, from 5-6:30 at The Edge, located at 9550 Ravenna Road. The clinics, designed to help interested players prepare for TBL Tournament Team Tryouts on January 5 and 12, are open to any rec ball players who are interested.

Players can come to either clinic or both.  We will be providing limited instruction and all-important repetitions for those looking to ready themselves for Tournament Team Tryouts, or if you just want to get an early start to the baseball year.

We WILL NOT require pre-registration for the clinics, but ask that you arrive early and be prepared to start right at 5:00 pm.  Our time at the Edge is limited, so we want to make the best use of the time to better ensure everyone gets reps at each available station.

TBL TOURNAMENT TEAM TRYOUTS – JANUARY 5 & 12

TBL will be holding Tournament Team Tryouts from 9-10:30 on Saturday, January 5th and January 12th, again at 9550 Ravenna Road. This year we are requiring players to pre-register for tryouts.  This will allow us to make better use of our limited time at the Edge, as well as give us a better sense of the number of potential players.

All players trying out for a tournament team, please use the form below to pre-register.

Tournament Team Pre-Registration Form

TBL consistently fields tournament teams at the 8u and 9u levels and we strongly expect to have sufficient interest again this year to field a 10u team as well.   Please see the note below regarding 11 and/or 12u teams

Three important reminders

  • Age group designation is based on a players age on May 1, 2019

  • Tournament Team players must register for and play in TBL’s Recreational League, in order to participate on the Tournament Team (if selected). Additional information can be found on the TBL website.

  • Players can try out once or twice.  Scores will be averaged for players who attend both tryout sessions.

Interested 11 and 12u Players

TBL encourages interested 11 and 12u players to register for tryouts.  Our ability to field a team at either age group will be dependent on the number of players who tryout, among other factors.  Depending on numbers, we may elect to field a combined 11 and 12 year old team, which would play at the 12U level.  Additionally, based on numbers and space, we may decide to limit 11/12 year old tryouts to one of the two tryout days.  For those reasons, it is essential that interested 11 and 12 year olds pre-register.  We will work to keep you apprised of plans at 11 and 12 years old as we get closer to the tryout dates.

REC TOURNAMENT TEAM TRYOUTS - JANUARY 5 & 12

Each year TBL conducts tryouts for tournament teams that will represent TBL's recreational division at a handful of area baseball tournaments each summer. The tryouts will be held on Saturday, January 5th at The Edge in Twinsburg to allow these teams time to practice together indoors during the winter months. These tournament team tryouts are only open to players who are registered for the TBL 2019 rec league. Each team will get one weekly practice starting in late January, and going throughout the summer. The practices and tournaments will not interfere with the players regular season rec team, practices, and games.

Note that unlike the TBL regular season, which uses school grades to form divisions, these teams are formed by date of birth. See below ...

8U (coach pitch) - 8 years old or younger on May 1, 2019
9U (kid pitch) - 9 years old or younger on May 1, 2019
10U - 10 years old or younger on May 1, 2019
11U - 11 years old or younger on May 1, 2019
12U - 12 years old or younger on May 1, 2019

Applications to coach one of these teams are due in by December 15, 2018. Interviews will be conducted at the Monday, December 17 TBL Board Meeting. The application can be found below.

NEW USA BASEBALL BAT STANDARDS - DO NOT AFFECT TBL

We've had a few questions come into the email inbox about a new USA Baseball Bat Standard (USABat) adopted by Little League Baseball effective January 1, 2018 that will allow larger bat barrels (2-5/8") but also mandate that all bats must be marked with the new USA Baseball stamp. These changes do not impact TBL, which is not affiliated with Little League. So all bats purchased last year or for the holidays this year are still fine for kids to use in 2019, provided they are in compliance with TBL's bat restrictions, which can be found here in the rules for each of our respective divisions. Any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at twinsburgbaseball@gmail.com. Thanks!

5TH ANNUAL WORLD SERIES OF WIFFLE BALL A HUGE SUCCESS!!

Twinsburg, Ohio - Wiffle Ball capital of America? I think you can now make the case.

91 teams from five states descended upon Twinsburg for our 5th Annual World Series of Wiffle Ball. And once again, the event was a huge success, with so many people up at Liberty Park, zero issues or drama, and a great time had by such a wide cross-section of people.

Head over the event website linked below for the final results, pictures, and much more!

ANOTHER STARS & STRIPES TRAVEL BASEBALL TOURNAMENT IN THE BOOKS!

We had awesome weather, sold out fields in all seven age divisions, and great baseball played all weekend! Six of Twinsburg's teams advanced to championship Sunday, four made it to the title games, and our 12U and 13U Tigers brought home Stars & Stripes championships! Many thanks to all the teams that participated, the volunteers that helped execute the event, and to all the members of the community that came out to take in the action!

Full results in all of the age divisions and much more info on this year's tournament can be FOUND HERE on our Stars & Stripes home page.

The tryouts for the 2020 travel teams are scheduled to take place on Sunday July 21, 2019 and Sunday July 28, 2019 at Liberty Park in Twinsburg.

ADULT BASEBALL!!!!!

It was only a matter of time, right?

Finally succumbing to years of inquiries and requests, TBL facilitated a series of adult (in age only) baseball games this fall. Amazingly, everyone had a blast, no one was injured (badly), and the games were (shockingly) well played and competitive! We're not quite sure where we're going with this yet, but we know we'll be playing more adult baseball in 2018 after a successful beta test this fall! To be added to the adult baseball email list, shoot Jim Porach a note at jporach@gmail.com

LESS KIDS PLAYING BASEBALL? NOT IN TWINSBURG!

We're putting the finishing touches on what was a record setting year for TBL, with more kids out on the baseball diamonds in our city than ever before! Remarkably, TBL enjoyed all-time high levels of participation in 2017 for every single league and event we facilitate:

~ 67 teams participated in our spring recreational league.

~ 49 teams participated in 7 age divisions (8U-14U) in the Stars & Stripes Travel Baseball Tournament. Furthermore, all six Twinsburg travel teams advanced to the championship game of their divisions and four of them won Stars & Stripes titles!

~ 92 teams played in the 4th Annual Twinsburg World Series of Wiffle Ball, which is now America's largest Wiffle Ball tournament.

~ 30 teams participated in our Fall Ball league.

~ For the first time ever, TBL will field 7 travel baseball teams (8U-14U) in 2018. The travel baseball program is coming off its best collective season yet, with last year's teams combining to win an astounding 22 tournament championships despite being a true community program competing against largely club teams that are comprised of kids from large areas or multiple communities.

5. This is not professional baseball

We are always looking for new TBL board members.  TBL is an all volunteer, non city affiliated entity that manages the many different aspects that go along with providing a positive youth baseball experience for well over 1,000 children each year.  Our board is a great group of people that meets roughly once a month, and we'd love to add a few new good people to the board this winter.  Email us at twinsburgbaseball@gmail.com if you have any questions or potential interest.

TBL mandates that our volunteer head coaches take an online training course to become registered members of the National Youth Sports Coaching Association and also that they take an online concussion awareness training course.  Both courses are also highly recommended for our assistant coaches and any other parents that help out with their children's teams.
