Fall Ball has grown like crazy in Twinsburg since we started the program in 2011. We've seen large increases in the number of kids from neighboring communities that come to Twinsburg to play Fall Ball, and our league had evolved into one of the premier fall baseball leagues in Ohio. 2016 was our sixth straight year of growth for the Fall Ball program as we fielded 29 teams in our four different age divisions:
Coach Pitch - Kids going into 1st or 2nd grade in the fall
Juniors (kid pitch) - Kids going into 3rd or 4th grade in the fall
Minors - Kids going into 5th or 6th grade in the fall
Majors - Kids going into 7th, 8th or 9th grade in the fall
Seniors - Kids going into 9th, 10th or 11th grade in the fall
(Going into 9th has option between Majors and Seniors)
Here's some key dates to know for the 2017 Fall Ball season:
Fall Ball in Twinsburg is played using the rules that are very similar to our rec league rules, and can be found below. We implement a max 2 IP pitched per game limit for kids in all kid pitch age divisions to encourage more kids getting a chance to pitch. And modify the coach pitch rules to contain elements of our CP1 and CP2 rec league rules. Also, note that the Juniors age division will use a 46" mound and 65" bases, Minors will use 50" and 70", and Majors will use 54" and 80".
No entire team entries are allowed, registration is individual to allow us to make the teams as fair as possible. The registration form will include information this year about what team kids played on in the spring/summer to ensure travel players are evenly disbursed in the hopes of creating parity, fair teams, and exciting competitive games. We get many inquiries from coaches asking to register entire teams together and feel that is too slippery a slope and would eventually turn Twinsburg Fall Ball into a travel team fall league. The only exception to this rule is the Seniors division (high school age). Fall Ball was started in Twinsburg with the goal of getting our rec players additional repetitions, and in the age division they will play in the following spring.
We get that kids may miss some practices/games due to other obligations or participation in other fall sports, and would still definitely encourage those kids to register and participate. To accommodate, rosters are set a little larger (12-13 kids) than a normal rec league roster.
Teams will get one practice per week (Mon-Fri, 6-8 PM) and one game per week on the weekend. Practices will start the week of Monday, August 8th. Most practices will be at Twinsburg baseball fields, and some will be at Longwood Park in Macedonia.
Games will be played on the weekends, and we do our best to work around schedules for other sports. Rain could cause a handful of games to get pushed to weeknights. Games start the weekend of Aug 19-20 and the season concludes the weekend of October 7-8.
