"Twinsburg represents community baseball at its best. Their teams are consistently strong fundamentally and more importantly they play the game the right way; with respect."

Cleveland Indians President Mark Shapiro

REGISTRATION STILL OPEN FOR MAJORS & SENIORS DIVISIONS

Registration is now closed for the Tee-ball, Coach Pitch, Juniors, and Minors divisions ... but is still open for our Majors (closes April 28) and Seniors (closes May 15) divisions.

Practices start in early April, and the seasons span from early May to late June/early July ... everything is wrapped up by July 4th.

Please note that the TBL Board of Trustees voted this fall to make a change in how we group our age divisions. In the past, we've used the age cut off of August 31st - so your child's age as of the August after the season ends determined their age division. This date was originally chosen because August 31 used to be the school age cut off, but it has since been moved up a couple of times. Little League Baseball has also adopted an age cut off date of May 1st. August 31st no longer made any sense for TBL to use as a cut off date. The board voted on the issue and decided to change TBL's age divisions to be tied to the school grades kids are in, which many other sports use as well.

The reasoning behind the outcome of the vote was simple: we want kids to play baseball with their friends. And we think its simpler for the parents as well. Our age cut-off date has been a constant source of confusion, and led to kids in the same grades playing in different age divisions.

Here's our divisions, and the grades associated with each ...

Tee-ball: Entering kindergarten in the fall or currently in kindergarten
Coach Pitch I - Currently in 1st grade
Coach Pitch II - Currently in 2nd grade
Juniors - Currently in 3rd or 4th grade
Minors - Currently in 5th or 6th grade
Majors - Currently in 7th or 8th grade
Seniors - Currently in high school

We realize that this change could lead to kids being tagged to an age division they have already played two years in (3-4 year old tee-ball in other communities would not count), and are willing to be flexible with parents of kids in those situations who want their kids to advance to the next division.  And we will continue to also be accommodative to parents who want their kids to "stay down" a division to continue to progress before moving up a division.  Also - note that our travel baseball and rec league tournament teams will continue to use the May 1 cut off date as it relates to the formation of those teams.

ANY questions that anyone has on these changes or the reasoning behind them, please feel free to email us at twinsburgbaseball@gmail.com.

Like a lot of communities, Twinsburg sends its 12U travel baseball team to Cooperstown Dreams Park every year for the world's largest invitational youth baseball tournament and a once in a lifetime experience.  The trip and the tournament come with expenses, and every year Twinsburg Baseball holds a fundraiser to help financially support the team.

This year, we are excited to announce that the fundraiser will be a Night at the Races event at Catered Elegance Party Center.  Come join us for a night filled with friends, food, fun, libations, sideboards, basket raffles, and horse racing!  The event sells out every year at 300 attendees, most of whom people you know from the community, and is an incredibly fun adult night out every year.  The ticket order form is linked below, and for more information, email mkvb14@aol.com.

REC TOURNAMENT TEAM TRYOUTS - SUNDAY, APRIL 12TH

Each year TBL conducts tryouts for rec league tournament teams at the 8U (coach pitch), 9U, 10U, 11U and 12U age levels.  The player's age as of April 30, 2015 dictates which team they can try out for and the tryouts are limited to TBL rec baseball players.

In addition to playing for their rec teams, the players that make these teams will play in three tournaments with their tournament team and practice once a week, typically on Sundays.  The tournaments will not interfere with the rec season and commitment, which comes first.  Two of the tournaments will take place on Memorial Day and the 4th of July weekends (no TBL rec games those weekends).

The tryouts for these teams will take place on Sunday, April 12th on the varsity football field at Twinsburg High School.  Applications to coach one of these teams must be sent to twinsburgbaseball@gmail.com by March 29th.  Coaches will be selected by the TBL Board of Directors by March 31st.

2015 TWINSBURG "STARS & STRIPES" TRAVEL BASEBALL TOURNAMENT

The 2015 Twinsburg Stars & Stripes Travel Baseball Tournament will take place starting on Thursday, July 9th and ends with championship bracket play on Sunday, July 12th.  Spaces will be filled on a first come, first serve basis with a max of eight teams per division.

Three game minimum, most teams will play one game either Thursday or Friday, with the top four teams in each division advancing to Sunday single elimination.  Individual and team awards will be given to the finalists in each division, and concessions will be available at most fields.

This a very well run baseball tournament that we've been hosting for many years now.  Most divisions usually sell out in the spring, so reserve your spot now!

To book your spot, for scheduling requests, or if you have any questions, contact Larry Carinci at lcarinci@zircoa.com or by phone at 440-821-6564.

Want to make some extra money while being around the best game in the world?  Become a TBL umpire!

We're looking to add new umpires for the 2015 season, and registration will be open until April 1, 2015.  CLICK HERE to get registered, and our Umpiring Coordinator will be in contact with you.  All umpire candidates must be 12 years of age or older by May 1, 2015. 1st year umpires will mainly umpire the bases for the Juniors Division (9-10 year olds). 2nd year umpires will mainly umpire the Juniors and Minors (11-12 year olds). 3rd year umpires on up will mainly umpire the Minors and Majors (13-14 year olds).

The season runs from May 1 through July 4th.  There will be a 2 hour instructional meeting at Liberty Park for all of the umpires at the end of April (exact time and date will be communicated on the website in early April).  All 1st and 2nd year umpires are required to attend.

THE 2ND ANNUAL TWINSBURG WORLD SERIES OF WIFFLE BALL - LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2015

After last year's wildly successful inaugural event that caught the area by storm and drew several hundred players and spectators to Liberty Park, plans have already begun for the second installment of what will become an annual event!

CLEVELAND INDIANS YOUTH BASEBALL CAMP COMES TO LIBERTY PARK IN TWINSBURG JUNE 8-12!

Every year the Cleveland Indians pick a handful of communities to bring their youth baseball camps to, and every year they pick Twinsburg!  Not only does our city have an excellent reputation as a "baseball city", but each year we have a ton of kids turn out for this camp.

The camps run from 9 AM to 3 PM each day, and are offered for children of all skill levels ages 6-14.  CLICK HERE to register your child and to have them get summer started by attending an excellent baseball camp right here in our own city!

TBL hosted a pool party fund raising event for our travel baseball programs on Friday, January 2nd at the Fitness Center indoor pool, and it was a big hit with over 200 in attendance!  Like the Wiffle Ball tournament we debuted last year, we knew right away that this would be a no brainer annual event.  Many thanks to the Fitness Center for hosting, to Teresa's Pizza for providing the food, and to all of you who came out to support the travel teams!

A reminder to all of our coaches, players and parents ...

We are always looking for new TBL board members.  TBL is an all volunteer, non city affiliated entity that manages the many different aspects that go along with providing a positive youth baseball experience for over 600 children each year.  Our board is a great group of people that meets roughly once a month, and we'd love to add a few new good people to the board this winter.  Email us at twinsburgbaseball@gmail.com if you have any questions or potential interest.

TBL mandates that our volunteer head coaches take an online training course to become registered members of the National Youth Sports Coaching Association and also that they take an online concussion awareness training course.  Both courses are also highly recommended for our assistant coaches and any other parents that help out with their children's teams.
