CHANGES COMING TO INSTRUCTIONAL DIVISION IN 2017!
In an effort to provide the kids more repetitions to develop skills we're implementing some changes to the Instructional Division (formerly Tee-Ball) for the coming 2017 season. We'll be scheduling dual team station practices throughout the season with the goal to hold practices during the week and games on the weekend. These practices will be comprised of two teams practicing together and doing drills at stations. The stations will focus on developing hitting mechanics (both off a tee and soft toss/coach pitch), throwing, catching, and fielding development and a 4v4 mini game. In addition, we are also modifying the fielding setup and positions for the games. Currently we allow all 12 players to play in the field. This makes for 6 infielders and 6 outfielders which creates confusion and the moshing of players going for a ball. We are going to an 8 player defensive setup with 4 infielders (P, 2B, SS and 3B) and 4 outfielders. A coach/parent will play first base. We feel that this will encourage more throws to first base while also make the game safer.
In order for these changes to be as effective as possible we will need parent support and volunteers during practices to help us run the new program. We will discuss these changes in more detail at the Parents meeting on Thursday, March 16th at 6 PM at the Community Center. Look forward to seeing everyone!
COACH PITCH I & COACH PITCH II COMBINED INTO ONE LEAGUE FOR 2017 & BEYOND
After weighing the topic this fall, the TBL Board of Directors recently voted to combine the Coach Pitch I (current 1st graders) and Coach Pitch II (current 2nd graders) into one division. The result will be one larger league that will play by the CPII rules, which have always been very similar to the CPI rules. Scores will be kept for all games, with all teams finishing the season by competing in a playoff tournament.

TBL PARTNERS WITH THE POSITIVE COACHING ALLIANCE
In February of 2015, the TBL Board voted to partner with the Positive Coaching Alliance, a quickly growing national organization that works with youth and high school sports leaders, coaches, athletes and parents to help promote a positive, character building youth sports experience.
PCA offers a number of tools for all of the aforementioned groups.
The numbers of kids in America playing baseball from ages 6-12 is at healthy levels, but there has been a sharp drop off in the number of kids that continue playing after that point.
PCA is committed to helping coaches and youth sports organizations to create the positive type of atmosphere that leads to kids wanting to continue to play sports through their high school years.

5. This is not professional baseball
We are always looking for new TBL board members. TBL is an all volunteer, non city affiliated entity that manages the many different aspects that go along with providing a positive youth baseball experience for well over 1,000 children each year. Our board is a great group of people that meets roughly once a month, and we'd love to add a few new good people to the board this winter. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or potential interest.
TBL mandates that our volunteer head coaches take an online training course to become registered members of the National Youth Sports Coaching Association and also that they take an online concussion awareness training course. Both courses are also highly recommended for our assistant coaches and any other parents that help out with their children's teams.
