"Twinsburg represents community baseball at its best. Their teams are consistently strong fundamentally and more importantly they play the game the right way; with respect."

Former Cleveland Indians & Current Toronto Blue Jays President Mark Shapiro

REGISTRATION OPEN JAN 1 - FEB 28

Keeping with tradition, registration for our 2016 rec baseball leagues opens on January 1 and will stay open through February 28th.  The TBL Board of Directors spends the fall months leading up to the open of registration talking about ways we can continue to improve the youth baseball experience for the kids of Twinsburg and assessing field and equipment improvements.  2015 was a great year that started with TBL partnering with the Positive Coaching Alliance, followed by a great Opening Day, exciting rec seasons, the installation of a new batting cage at Liberty Park, and record numbers of kids participating in Stars & Stripes, the World Series of Wiffle Ball, and Fall Ball.

As always, we want your feedback!  Shoot us a note to twinsburgbaseball@gmail.com if you have feedback to provide or want to give back to the community and join our Board.

Here are the age divisions for our upcoming 2016 spring/summer recreational baseball league.  Click on the "Registration" link in the menu bar to get your child registered for the coming season.

TBL REC LEAGUE TOURNAMENT TEAM TRYOUTS - JAN 30 & FEB 13

The tryouts for the TBL rec league tournament teams will be held earlier this year, on the mornings of Saturday, January 30th and Saturday, February 13th in the varsity gym of Twinsburg High School.

These tryouts have historically taken place in early April.  By moving the tryouts up, the teams will get additional practice time together (60-90 minutes a week indoor from Feb 15-April 15 at The Baseball Warehouse in Twinsburg) and the players will get additional instruction and repetitions.

Players must register by January 15th to be eligible to try out.  Interested coaches must also register by January 10th, and be available for an interview on the evening of January 11th.

Many more details on these teams and the tryouts can be found on the rec league tournament team page.

UMPIRES NEEDED!

If you are interested in making money while being involved in the game you love, then become a TBL Rec League umpire!  Players that are age 12 on up can register and umpire for the upcoming 2016 Spring/Summer season.  The 1st year and 2nd year umpires usually umpire TBL Juniors games (3rd and 4th graders), 3rd year umpires usually umpire Minors games (5th and 6th grade), and 4th year on up can umpire all 3 age divisions including Majors ( 7th and 8th grade).  All new and returning umpires are required to register.  Umpiring in TBL is a super way to learn more about baseball, have fun and get paid while still participating in a great sport!  Click HERE to register!

Register now, and see you this spring!

TBL BOARD VOTES TO CHANGE THREE RULES FOR 2016

The TBL Board voted recently to make the following changes to the rules of the TBL recreational baseball leagues for 2016 ...

1. Formally introduce a kid pitch component to the tee-ball/instructional league. Starting on June 1 each year (halfway through rec season), from the 3rd innings on in tee-ball games, players may elect to be pitched to. If they do not hit three pitches, the player will then hit off the tee.

2. Allow big barrel bats in the Juniors and Minors divisions. Max barrel size of 2 3/4".

3. Implement the MLB Pitch Smart pitch count guidelines. The MLB Pitch Smart pitch limits/rest parameters will replace our current pitching rules in the Juniors division on up.

TBL ALUM JALEN WASHINGTON NAMED CAPTAIN OF 2016 OHIO STATE BASEBALL TEAM

TBL travel baseball player and Twinsburg High School graduate Jalen Washington was recently named as a captain for Ohio State's 2016 men's baseball team, which is decided by a player vote.  The Buckeyes are coming off of a 35-20 season, and Washington was recently named the team's "Most Improved Player" this fall.  The junior will enter this season as the Buckeye's starting catcher and is poised for a breakout season.

Go Buckeyes! Go Tigers!

ANOTHER AWESOME FALL BALL SEASON IN THE BOOKS!

Twinsburg's 9th season of Fall Ball was our best yet.  We were very lucky to have generally outstanding weather these last couple of months, enabling kids to get in additional practices, reps and games.  The baseball fields at Liberty Park were jam packed with outstanding baseball action all fall, something we've never seen in Twinsburg until these last few years.  We once again had a record number of teams (27) participate in our fall league this season, the fourth straight year we've grown the size of our fall league. HUGE THANKS to all of the board members, commissioners, coaches, and parents that sacrificed their time and efforts this fall to help provide a fall baseball option for the kids of Twinsburg and its surrounding communities!

2ND ANNUAL TWINSBURG WORLD SERIES OF WIFFLE BALL A SUCCESS!

After last year's wildly successful inaugural event, The 2nd Annual Twinsburg World Series of Wiffle Ball was bigger and better in 2015!  63 teams, 235 players and several hundred spectators flooded to Liberty Park, which was a sea of music, tents, coolers, vendors, families ... and hundreds of Wiffle Ball games played on seven different fields.  The tournament has become a big part of the TBL annual lineup of events, and will be back again in 2016!  Many thanks to all of our volunteers, sponsors, players, parents, and participants!  Below are the final results!  Our Facebook page has a ton of photos from the tournament.  And click here for the Twinsburg Bulletin recap of the event!

TBL INSTALLS NEW BATTING CAGE AT LIBERTY PARK

Through years of fund raising events, TBL raised enough money to install a sweet new batting cage at Liberty Park behind the fence of field #2! Gives kids another place to get swings in when all four fields at Liberty are occupied!  Check it out below!

A reminder to all of our coaches, players and parents ...

1. These are kids
2. This is a game
3. Our coaches volunteer
4. The umpires are human
5. This is not professional baseball

We are always looking for new TBL board members.  TBL is an all volunteer, non city affiliated entity that manages the many different aspects that go along with providing a positive youth baseball experience for over 600 children each year.  Our board is a great group of people that meets roughly once a month, and we'd love to add a few new good people to the board this winter.  Email us at twinsburgbaseball@gmail.com if you have any questions or potential interest.

TBL mandates that our volunteer head coaches take an online training course to become registered members of the National Youth Sports Coaching Association and also that they take an online concussion awareness training course.  Both courses are also highly recommended for our assistant coaches and any other parents that help out with their children's teams.

TBL PARTNERS WITH THE POSITIVE COACHING ALLIANCE

In February of this year, the TBL Board voted to partner with the Positive Coaching Alliance, a quickly growing national organization that works with youth and high school sports leaders, coaches, athletes and parents to help promote a positive, character building youth sports experience.

PCA offers a number of tools for all of the aforementioned groups.

The numbers of kids in America playing baseball from ages 6-12 is at healthy levels, but there has been a sharp drop off in the number of kids that continue playing after that point.

PCA is committed to helping coaches and youth sports organizations to create the positive type of atmosphere that leads to kids wanting to continue to play sports through their high school years.

PLEASE NOTE - TRAVEL TEAM TRYOUT DATES ALREADY SET FOR NEXT SEASON

Knowing that many families schedule vacations far in advance, and that many times those vacations happen right after baseball season ends, we've already set the dates for the tryouts for our 2017 travel baseball teams, which take place a summer in advance so that teams can begin to practice together in the fall and winter that precede the coming season.  We're also moving the dates of these tryouts up, as Twinsburg's have historically occurred much later than other communities and other travel programs.  Nothing else is changing.  Two tryout dates, may attend one or both, independent talent evaluators, top eight kids automatically make the team, conducted at Liberty Park, etc.

The dates for next year's travel tryouts are ...

Sunday, July 31st, 2016
Sunday, August 7th, 2016
