"Twinsburg represents community baseball at its best. Their teams are consistently strong fundamentally and more importantly they play the game the right way; with respect."
Former Cleveland Indians & Current Toronto Blue Jays President Mark Shapiro

REC TOURNAMENT TEAM TRYOUTS - SESSION TWO THIS SUNDAY (JAN 22)
Tryouts for the 2017 TBL rec league tournament teams will be held Sunday January 15 & 22 from 9 AM - 12 PM in the Twinsburg High School Varsity Gym. There is no pre-registration or sign-ups, kids should just arrive 15 minutes early to register upon arrival.
We anticipate the tournament teams will practice once a week (starting at an indoor facility in February, and outdoors once the weather permits). Teams typically play in three tournaments - one each in May (usually Memorial Day weekend), June, and July (4th of July weekend). Rec tournament team practices and tournaments are scheduled so they will not interfere with a player’s rec league team schedule.
TBL regularly has sufficient interest to field teams at the 8U and 9U levels. A 10U team will also be formed, if sufficient interest is demonstrated at tryouts. TBL has in prior years carried two teams in an age group, as a means to allow broader player development, when player interest and talent levels permit. We will again consider more than one team at an age level, at a coach’s discretion, if the number of eligible players and overall talent level of the teams would benefit from a more expanded roster.
A player’s age as of May 1, 2017 establishes their "official age" for the coming season for tournament play/tryouts.

COACH PITCH I & COACH PITCH II COMBINED INTO ONE LEAGUE FOR 2017 & BEYOND
After weighing the topic this fall, the TBL Board of Directors recently voted to combine the Coach Pitch I (current 1st graders) and Coach Pitch II (current 2nd graders) into one division. The result will be one larger league that will play by the CPII rules, which have always been very similar to the CPI rules. Scores will be kept for all games, with all teams finishing the season by competing in a playoff tournament.

"TBL CELEBRATES OUR MVP'S EVENT" A HOME RUN IN YEAR ONE!
This past weekend, Twinsburg Baseball was lucky to partner with Event Coordinator Stevie Romano and Twinsburg City School District to host a truly special and unique event at Liberty Park on the afternoon Sunday, August 7th. The "TBL Celebrates Our MVP's Event" was a baseball game that celebrated MVP players that with challenges that have prevented them from playing the game of baseball along with their typically developed peers. After the game, we had a huge cookout, and a great time was had by all! Liberty Park was PACKED!
We are so thankful to Stevie Romano, the Twinsburg Schools, the dozens of volunteers, and the many others in the community that came out to participate or watch, and help make this event special for those involved! This will be an annual event we will look to continue to grow in future years!

TBL PARTNERS WITH THE POSITIVE COACHING ALLIANCE
In February of 2015, the TBL Board voted to partner with the Positive Coaching Alliance, a quickly growing national organization that works with youth and high school sports leaders, coaches, athletes and parents to help promote a positive, character building youth sports experience.
PCA offers a number of tools for all of the aforementioned groups.
The numbers of kids in America playing baseball from ages 6-12 is at healthy levels, but there has been a sharp drop off in the number of kids that continue playing after that point.
PCA is committed to helping coaches and youth sports organizations to create the positive type of atmosphere that leads to kids wanting to continue to play sports through their high school years.

THANK YOU TO OUR TBL SPONSORS!
A reminder to all of our coaches, players and parents ...

2. This is a game
3. Our coaches volunteer
4. The umpires are human
5. This is not professional baseball
We are always looking for new TBL board members. TBL is an all volunteer, non city affiliated entity that manages the many different aspects that go along with providing a positive youth baseball experience for well over 1,000 children each year. Our board is a great group of people that meets roughly once a month, and we'd love to add a few new good people to the board this winter. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or potential interest.
TBL mandates that our volunteer head coaches take an online training course to become registered members of the National Youth Sports Coaching Association and also that they take an online concussion awareness training course. Both courses are also highly recommended for our assistant coaches and any other parents that help out with their children's teams.
